Tyler Perry's father lost his mansion in a suspected electrical fire as flames engulfed his Louisiana home.
What started off as a 'popping noise' in an attic, turned into a raging fire that needed a crew of nearly 50 firefighters to battle the blaze at the home of Emmitt Perry on Monday night.
The father to Tyler Perry, a writer and director, said he didn't see or smell any signs of the fire, he only heard a popping noise, before his Greensburg, Louisiana, home burst into flames.

He told WBRZ that his fate could have been different if he were asleep.
Perry said: 'I made it out alive. If it wouldn't have happened then, me and my daughter would've probably been in there, and we would have burned up.'
The fire, which could be seen from miles away, was left to burn out after St. Helena Parish Fire Districts determined the closest fire hydrant was five miles away from the home.
The house is determined to be a total loss and officials believe the fire was started due to electrical issues.

The news organization reported that Emmitt Perry is not the Hollywood director's biological father, although he did raise him.
Perry said of his parents: 'I love my mother to death but she lied to me' adding that his father by name inflicted abuse on him, reported Essence.
He is still searching for his biological father.
Tyler Perry is best known for his hit comedies centered around a character called Madea.
The actor, writer, producer and director also appeared alongside Ben Affleck in the hit film Gone Girl.
