The Idaho Attorney General's Office announced that it successfully defeated a challenge to Idaho's Defense of Life Act by the Satanic Temple.

The Defense of Life Act was enacted in Idaho to protect the unborn after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. The Satanic Temple sued the Attorney General and the Ada County prosecutor after the law went into effect.

The Temple said the constitution protected the right of female members to abort their babies in a ceremony as part of a Satanic ritual.

A federal court dismissed the entire lawsuit filed by the Satanic Temple with prejudice and without leave to amend.

"The district court rejected every claim the Satanic Temple asserted and dismissed the case with prejudice. The court held that each claim lacked merit, even describing one of the Satanic Temple's positions as producing a 'blatantly absurd' result," said Attorney General Labrador. "My office will continue to defend the lives of the unborn at every turn."
