Celebrities across the globe have been lending their support to help everyone in need during the unprecedented times of COVID-19. The novel virus has left the world locked down indefinitely and many without food and shelter. Within the country itself, the central and state governments have started relief funds to help out people with food and medical workers with PPE kits and other supplies.
One such initiative was started by American singer Lady Gaga, who got some of the biggest names in the world to join in for a Global Citizen campaign. The One World: Together at Home initiative got together celebrities like Billie Eilish, Lizzo, John Legend, Chris Martin and many more to hold small performances from their homes to raise money. Our very own Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra were too a part of this initiative. The two spoke of the effects of Coronavirus around the globe and how to fight it from your homes.
Shah Rukh Khan elaborated on the population of India and how we have been dealing with the virus. He said, "India is currently facing one of the biggest challenges in her history. With the population of over a billion citizens, the spread of Covid-19 is bound to have a negative impact. Battling this crisis is going to take its toll and this is the time to take action. Right now I am working with a team of people who are working on providing the protective equipment, quarantine centres, food and essentials to patients in hospitals and homes. But, to beat this pandemic, the world has to come together.”
Priyanka, on the other hand took a global stand and spoke about refugees around the world. She said, "In order to curb Covid-19 in these facilities, the needs are basic- healthcare, clean water and sanitation,”
